About

Hi! My name is Grace. I am a distance runner/crew rower/horseback rider.
This site is about the distance running boom of the 1970s.
The site explores the history, culture, and present day effects of the rise of running,
as well as some of my personal experiences with the sport.

Here is a great article on how the running boom began...

I began running when I was in 8th grade. I joined my middle schools'
cross country team and quickly fell in love with the sport.
I loved how peaceful training could be and the adrenaline rush of racing.
I went on to run cross country all four years in high school
and my freshman and sophomore year I ran track for the distance team.
Outside of school-sanctioned races I have run a few community 5ks and a half marathon.
I also captained a Ragnar Relay team this past summer ('25), which was so much fun!
